American Phil Mickelson held his nerve to clinch a one-shot victory at the U.S. Masters on Sunday, holing a 18-foot birdie putt and completing the final leg in his odyssey to win a major championship. The 33-year-old left-hander, long regarded as the best modern-day player not to win a major was extatic when the ball rolled in for the win. Mickelson leapt as high as he could and threw both arms in the air, kissed the ball that he plucked from the cup and tossed it into a delirious crowd that felt the same way.
